| I've found from my own experience that practice, practice , practice is essential when beginning to crochet. So the following patterns are small projects that give you practice and simple but pretty gifts. Feel free to email me if you have any comments or question. Making a Square - The following are instructions for making a sqare and some practical uses for your squares. Making a Square in Single Crochet Learn the following abbreviations so you can read directions in any crochet pattern book.: ea means each ch means chain sc means single crochet Materials needed - Any lighter color of Worsted Weight Yarn. The yarn label should have this information written on it. You will need a size H crochet hook. Ch 16 Row 1 (Fountation Row) - Sc in 2nd ch from hook (do not count the loop on the hook) and in ea ch accross.(15 sc) Rows 2-16- (The next 15 rows will all be the same.) - Ch 1, turn your work, sc in ea sc accross. (15 sc). Don't for get to count each row to be sure you have all 15 sc in each row. Learn to count how many sc you have by looking at the top of your work and seeing the ch. Look to one side of that ch and count the ridges. Uses for your Squares Sachet - Cut a 6" X 6" peice of net toole, you can get this just about anywhere fabric is sold and at crafts stores. Put you favorite potpourri in the middle of your net toole and fold in the sides wrapping the potpourri inside the net toole. Put the potporri pouch and place in the middle of the square. Take a 12" or so piece of 1/4 ribbon, insert the ribbon in diagonal corners, turn square 90 degrees and insert in the other two diagonal corners. |
