Health
My daughter and I have had some real problems with eczema.  I have found in talking to other people, that there are a lot of people who have eczema.  I searched and searched for information on eczema and finally found the answers I needed to know to get rid of eczema.

First eczema is a symptom of  a much bigger problem.  It is my experience that doctors give you medications to treat topically.  That doesn't correct the problem, only helps the healing period to be shorter but the outbreaks will continue and in my experience happen more often.

My eczema was on my hands and started 12 years ago.  One finger developed blisters that would dry, then crack and bleed.  Just when I looked as if it was healing, it would break out more and over time the place on my hands got bigger and bigger.  It was painful to get any water on them and creams were burning bad.  I dealt with this painful cycle for a couple of years until my parents told me to start taking a multi-vitamin and mineral with trace minerals.  So I did and in a month they were pretty much healed up.

This worked for about 9 years, but I'd still have an occasional break out but not too bad.  Then in the summer of 2004, I broke out again and this time the minerals were not working. That December I noticed that the findernails on my pinky finger and ring finger was coming detached from my fingers.  The nails had become very thin and I could see white spots under the nails that looked like air pockets.

My blood preasure was extremely low anyway but was running even lower which was causing a lot of dizziness.  So I went to see the doctor to see what was going on.  He couldn't tell me anything except that maybe stress and dehydration may be causing my problems.  He gave me a perscription for the eczema and I was on my way.  The cream is a steroid that dries up the blisters.  I didn't want to have to use a steroid the rest of my life especially when I was told not to get it in my eyes because it can cause caturax.  This was really difficult because I couldn't wash the cream off since the eczema was on my hands.

So I started researching. and finally found some answers.  Eczema, allergies, dermititis, and a lot of other things are from too many toxins in you body trying to get out through your skin.  Your immune system gets to where it can't recognize a harmless substance from a harmful substance and so you have your autoimmune diseases.  So you have to correct the problem by gettting out the toxins.  That is a short what of explaining it all.

So now the question is how to get rid of these toxins so my body can opperate correctly.  You can do this herbally, by fasting and by changing your diet.

This is what I did:
1) Increased my intake of water.
2) Kept eating a lot of vegetables and friuts, but increased fresh to at least 50% of what I eat, up to 75%.
3) Completed a two week herbal and fiber internal cleanse every three months.
4) For about 6 months I took a lot of different supplements to  raise my levels of vitamin A, all my B vitamins, essential fatty acids, and some other things that I will go in more detail latter.
5) Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
6) Exercise

I have to warn you that during the internal cleanse, you will probably break out in the usual spots you have eczema.  Since at the time I did my first internal cleanse my hands were really bad, I used the cream the doctor gave me.  It has been almost a year since my first internal cleanse and my hands are cleared up.  I notice if I use anything with bleach in it, the end of my finger just under my fingernail get dry like some blisters came up and has dried out.  Other than that, I've done really well since after my second cleanse in May.  I have always had alergies, sneezing and congestion.  Since doing the first cleanse, I haven't sneezed hardly at all and no more continuous drainage unless associated with a sore throat and/or cold.

I will continue to do a cleanse every 3 - 6 months, I may take a B complex for a while longer, try to keep drinking plenty of water, try to make sure that 50% to 75% of what I eat is fruits and vegetables and get the right amount of rest every night.  I will continue to take a multivitamin and 500 mg. of vitamin C daily.  The kids and I have been taking  a multivitamin and 500 mg of vitamin C daily for the last two years and have rarely been sick.  Before we took a multivitamin, but would still pick cold pretty regualarly.  When we started taking the vitamin C too, the amount of colds and the severity of cold went down dramatically.  It is now January of 2006, and we have yet to have a cold.

Now I want to tell you about my daughter which is a more difficult case of eczema.  She started breaking out on and around her toes about 5 years ago.  Then two years ago she began to break out on the insides of her arms, where the nurses take blood, and on the fold of the back side of her legs.  I found these are common places to break out with eczema.  Because she is a child, now 13 and growing a lot, I can't have her do the same kind of cleanse I do.

This is what my daughter does:
1) Increased her fresh fruit and vegetable intake to 50% - 75%.
2) She take barley grass at least once a day.
3) I have her take a bath with bath salts I mixed up for her.
4) She took good bacteria for a little while and B complex..
5) Increased her fiber intake.
6) Gave her grape seed extract for a couple of days that is made for children to cleanse her some.  I will have to do some research on this and if it is safe for her, I'd like to have her do this once every one to two months until she is healed up and her alergies (sneezing) is gone.
7)I mixed up some healing oil with essential oils to help in healing her skin as well as mixture of water and essential oil to treat flare ups along with the bath salts.
8) Exercise

The barley grass gives her much needed vitamins and minerals which aids in getting rid of toxins. The bath salts detoxifies her skin as well as sooths it.  The fiber keeps her colin clean so she can eliminate toxins in her body instead of getting stuck in her colon and getting reabsorbed.  The grape seed extract helps you body release stored toxins to get them out of the body, that is why you will most likely break out if you do a cleanse.  Already I can see a difference in the frequency of out breaks.  I think in another year, her skin will be looking good but she will still need to watch her diet to keep her body operating like it should.
